Of all the disasters that could happen in your business, a fire is possibly the worst. With a blink of an eye, it could destroy everything you’ve worked so hard to build.

That’s enough to make any business owner panic. And it’s the worst thing you can do.

Rather deal with the fire effectively using these three fire safety rules to reduce the destruction to your company…

Follow these three fire safety rules if you want your company to survive fire

Rule #1: Never try to rescue work documents or property
We understand the urge to try to save your company’s work, but this just puts you in danger. You first need to focus on getting your employees and yourself to safety.
Rather keep digital backups of all of your company’s work on a remote server. This way a fire can’t destroy all the work you’ve done.

Do your employees know about the different fire equipment?
If a fire breaks out in your building, would your employees know what to do or how to use the fire extinguisher?
Rule #2: Ensure your fire team can control the fire until the fire department arrives
You must have a fire team. This is the group of employees you’ve appointed and trained to use your fire fighting equipment. They’ll know how to handle this situation and they could stop a fire from destroying your whole company.
Rule #3: Don’t let your employees go back for anything before you give the all clear
Just like you mustn’t stand around to try to save your company’s work, your employees mustn’t go back for anything. This will only put them in danger.
So ensure you and your employees know, understand and follow these rules in the event of a workplace fire. They could be the difference between losing everything or just some things.
